Tam dispar aquilae columba non est,
Nec dorcas rigido fugax leoni:
inter capreas silvestres numeratur; magis tamen ad cervum accedit. A Graeco δέρκω, video. Cuiusmodi animali nullo canum terrore, sed solâ togarum iactatione, a spectatoribus, in arena agitari, insuperque a Romanis in puerorum oblectationem mansuefieri consuevisse; docet Mart. l. 13. in Xeniis. Delicium parvo donabis dorcada nato:
Iactatis solet hanc mittere turba togis.
Color earum rufus communiter; at in illarum genere platycerotes aliquando totae albae sunt, ut docet Bochart. Hierozoici Part. prior. l. 3. c. 26. et 27. Plura vide supra ubi de Capreis, ut et in voce Dorcas.
